#1- The story of Scandal that changed the views of Society


This cartoon depicts the feelings the society had during the Watergate scandal.  Watergate changed the views of the Americans. The quotes explain how the society no longer trusted the government put into place.  The cartoon talks about how the government should have changed during the society.  The people wanted to trust the government again but that was not the case.  The government could not build back up the reputation of Nixon.  Nixon was viewed as the best president during this time but slowly lost his favor as soon as the scandal surfaced.  The man is covered in a face mask and carrying tools.  This is ironic because the doctor tries to fix up those who are injured.  The tools are a symbol to help those who were affected.  The watergate hotel symbolizes where people would stay so that they can be nursed back to health.   The Americans felt completely betrayed by the government and how they handled the Watergate Scandal.  They could never feel the same way about the presidental campaign again.
